I believe this fall high school league has provided a great service to the area, the teams and players who have participated. The competition has been better than imagined and the play even better than that. The talent in this area is definitely on the rise. I am so very proud and excited that this league took on the face that it did with great basketball provided by the players, excellent competition and a sense of participation to make this all successful. I want to thank all the coaches, players, scorekeepers, officials, parents, and Tyrone Hicks and the Common Bond fieldhouse for allowing this league to flourish.
We have seen great plays, incredible dunks, steals, hustle and toughness to save the ball and games, good team basketball that is cutting, passing, hitting shots and making plays. Teams and players finding ways to get the job done. Fantastic athletic and skilled basketball performances from these kids. What a tribute to them and their efforts to be able to watch these players at this level. I am very glad to say I was a part of such a league.
The power ratings are on the schedule to the right of your team name. It has become a 2 team race over the long haul with a bundle of others looming. Pioneer and Common Bond Barnes have separated themselves with aggressiveness, timely plays, good free throw shooting, and team basketball. With all that being said about them, this league has provided 6 overtime games, 21 other games of 3 points or less, and only 7 games of 15 point spreads or greater out of 84 total games in the A pool. This was not an ordinary league, it was challenging each day and game. It gave the spectators entertainment and the ability to see the variety of talent in this area. It also provided our area teams and players with some well needed experience that we hope they will carry into their seasons.
